Bacolod-Silay International Airport is the primary gateway to Negros Island Region serving the general area of Metro Bacolod. It is one of the two active airports serving the island.
It was completed on July 16, 2007. The first aircraft ever to land at the airport was a small fourteen-seater turboprop. It officially began operations on January 18, 2008. Cebu Pacific was the first ever commercial fligth to arrive.
